Certain styles come and go, but the appeal of a vintage look endures over time. A vintage vibe is relaxing and functional, and best of all, it won’t break the bank. In fact, many vintage decorations can be fashioned from items you may already have lying around. Here are three ways to enhance your space by furnishing it with custom furniture and decor.

Tips for Achieving a Vintage Feel

1. Custom Furniture

Creating custom furniture is a key aspect of the vintage look. For instance, a custom corner wardrobe with distressed doors is an excellent way to make an aesthetic statement in your bedroom. All you need is the right carpenter and a pair of old doors to repurpose. Another piece that can give a room a warm, lived-in vibe is a custom vintage vanity. Placing the vanity near a window will make it a peaceful place for you to get ready in the morning with the help of natural light.

2. Upcycled Wooden Items

“Upcycling” refers to recycling an object in a way that gives it greater value, and fewer words are more appropriate for creating a vintage style. Stacked packing crates can make for an appealing side table or nightstand. You can even adjust the height by adding or removing crates. You can also decorate wooden picture frames with a chalk-paint patina for an aged but aesthetically pleasing look.

3. Birdcages

If you’re a plant lover, birdcages are an excellent place to keep your favorite plant. If you hang the cage from the ceiling, you can add a plant with vines that dangle out. You can also use empty birdcages as decor pieces. Adding string lights could be an option if you want a lower light option in your room. You can even find mismatching ones to place on top of hard to reach areas or hang them from the ceiling in the corner.
