This means no rice, pasta, breads, and even a handful of vegetables that have too many natural sugars or starch, including corn.

How Do I Develop a Vegan Version of This?

The high-fat and low-carb diet can also be achieved without relying on meat or animal products. The first step will be to determine a carb limit. Do some research on the different variations of this diet and choose an amount you’re comfortable with. Aim for 20 to 50 grams of carbs daily to stay within the limits.

Once you have a plan in place, you can start looking at healthy food options. You’ll want to avoid anything that contains sugars, even natural ones such as fruit, honey, and maple syrup. Starchy root vegetables like potatoes are off-limits, as well as grains, legumes, and fruits. Protein options include tofu, tempeh, and seitan. Vegans can also get ample healthy fats from coconut oil, avocados, and coconut-based yogurts.
