Staging makes real estate listings look their best, encouraging buyers to connect with the home and motivate them to make an offer. Every room in the house matters, down to the laundry room. As you prepare your home for the market, walk through this laundry room staging checklist. By the time you’re finished, this normally unexciting room should look inviting.

Staging the Laundry Room for a Real Estate Listing

1. Clean Thoroughly

Begin by conducting a deep clean of your laundry room. Wipe down the washer and dryer to make them look attractive. Clean the machines if they have an unpleasant odor. Cleaning improves the ambiance of the space even if the machines aren't sold along with the house. Wipe down the walls and all shelves or cupboards, inside and out. Plan for buyers that will open every cabinet or look in every corner.

2. Show Off Storagerealtor

Buyers love to see storage in real estate listings, and, in the laundry room, they’ll want a place to tuck away cleaning supplies. If your laundry room doesn’t currently have storage, add some by installing shelves. Show off that storage space by placing a few items on the shelves or countertops. Clear out the clutter, so only one-third of the shelving space is occupied. Place items in decorative baskets or jars. Fold or roll up some towels and place them on the shelves. If you have room left over, add some flair with a potted succulent or decorative candle.

3. Brighten It Up

As a working space, the laundry room should be bright with plenty of light. If the area has a window, open blinds and curtains to let in as much natural light as possible. Replace your light bulbs with the highest wattage that is safe for your fixture. If your lighting fixture looks dated or worn, replace it with a new one for a simple but attractive focal point.
