4 Ways to Stop Windshield Wipers From Making Noise, Fairbanks, Alaska

Your windshield wipers are essential for improving visibility during inclement weather. However, over time they can start to wear down or accumulate debris, which makes them squeak or create other distracting noises. If you’re dealing with this issue, there are a few tricks you can try to hopefully eliminate the problem. To help you solve this, here are a couple fixes to try.

How to Fix Noisy Windshield Wipers

1. Clean the Blades

If dirt and debris get stuck in between your wiper blades and windows, it can cause vibrations that may lead to squeaking noises. To rectify this issue, carefully wipe off the surface of each blade with a soft cloth.

2. Refill Wiper Fluid

3. Adjust the Blades

The noise may also be caused by windshield wipers that are too tightly installed. If this is the case, the moving parts may be rubbing together to create a sound. Try loosening the connections slightly to see if that helps.

4. Install New Rubber Inserts

Windshield wipers have rubber inserts that are designed to provide a soft surface between the windshield and the hard plastic blades. If this part starts to wear down, it will create friction and noise. It may also leave streaks on the glass. To avoid issues, replace the inserts every 12 months.
