The new school year will be here before you know it, which means your laundry responsibilities will likely start piling up. Your Whirlpool® appliances are ready for the end of summer, but you might benefit from a few helpful tricks to streamline your laundry schedule. Keep the following in mind so you can transition back into the school year easily.

3 Laundry Tips for the Upcoming School Year

1. Set a Schedule

Between after-school practices, homework, cooking dinner, and commuting, it can feel hard to find time to do a proper load of laundry. Rather than trying to squeeze in time whenever there’s an opening in your schedule, pick a set day every week to wash and dry all your dirty clothes. Over the weekend is ideal, as it will ensure everyone in your family has a full closet come Monday morning. Limiting your schedule to one or two washes a week will also minimize wear and tear on your Whirlpool appliances, lessening the chances of needing premature washer and dryer repairs.

2. Designate Spaces

Whirlpool® appliancesOne of the most time-consuming parts of doing a load of laundry is trying to sort through everything and give it to the proper person. To save time, give every family member their own laundry basket. Label each hamper so you know who it belongs to, then wash and dry one person’s load at a time. Once everything is washed and ready to be folded, you know exactly who to give it to.

3. Separate Uniforms

If your child participates in a school sport, their uniform will likely be very dirty when they come home. Rather than putting the uniform in the hamper and running the risk of dirt or grass stains setting in, get these items into your Whirlpool appliances immediately after practice. Since it will only be one or two pieces of clothing, it won’t take long, and it will ensure your child has their uniform fresh and ready for the next practice or game.
