If your refrigerator starts making strange noises or is not keeping your food cold, you need to act quickly. If you can figure out what is causing the problem, you may be able to fix it without much trouble. First, locate the refrigerator parts or tools you may need. Then use this guide to help make three common refrigerator repairs.

How to Fix Common Refrigerator Issues

1. Insufficient Temperature

When you notice that your refrigerator or freezer is warmer than usual, you may have food spoilage and safety issues unless you can quickly restore the cold. Check the appliance’s evaporator fans and try cleaning off any icy buildup. You may need to call a repair service to replace these refrigerator parts with new ones if the buildup can’t be dislodged.

2. Water Leaks

Water usually leaks from refrigerators because of a clog in one of these two locations. Use a pipe cleaner to flush any debris from the drain. If your water supply line is frozen, try defrosting it, but you may have to install a new water supply line if defrosting the line doesn’t fix the leak.

3. Constant Cycling

It’s normal for your refrigerator to make noise when it cycles, but it shouldn’t continually cycle. If your refrigerator is cycling too much, turn off the unit and then clean the condenser coils of dust or debris. These refrigerator parts are usually located along the bottom of the appliance and should be regularly cleaned to keep your refrigerator running efficiently.
