Summer can be a tough time to keep employees motivated. Between the nice weather outside and more people going on vacation, your team members may find that they’d rather be elsewhere. However, there are a number of ways to keep your team motivated and dedicated to business development. Here’s what you need to know.

A Guide to Boosting Summertime Morale

1. Coordinate Outdoor Time

Working indoors can be tough when employees are looking out of the windows at the gorgeous summer weather. Encourage your employees to break up their workday by going outdoors. Move meetings outside so they can enjoy the sun and fresh air. Also, allow for longer lunch breaks and encourage them to take a mid-afternoon break to spend some time outside.

2. Be Flexible

Letting someone come in early so they can leave early, for example, helps them enjoy the season without your company missing out on productivity and business development opportunities.

3. Approve Vacation Time

Summer, like the holiday season, is a time of year where more employees will be asking for time off. Avoid discouraging these vacations. Stepping away from the office allows your team members to recharge and enjoy the season, so when they return, they’ll be happier and more focused. If you need a certain number of employees around every day, put up a vacation schedule ahead of time, and approve vacation days on a first-come, first-served basis.

In addition to motivating your team, there are many other ways you can focus on business development this summer season. The South Fulton Chamber of Commerce promotes economic development for organizations throughout College Park, Hapeville, Union City, Fairburn, Palmetto, Chattahoochee Hills, The City of South Fulton, Southwest Atlanta, and East Point, GA. They host networking events and help with business development opportunities to establish you in the community. Get membership information online or at (770) 964-1984.
