At A Brighter Rainbow Learning Center in Billerica, MA, rainy days don't make anybody frown! In fact, rainy days at this early childhood education center are opportunities for some serious smiles thanks to the indoor play activities that keep kids happy, engaged, and challenged.

Their highly qualified caregivers are experts at keeping kids happy in any weather. Here are a few fun rainy-day activities that you can try at home with your little one, courtesy of Oprah.com:

  • Family Film Buffs: Trying making a home movie with your kids. Write down your story, assign parts, and make costumes, or just keep it simple with playful improv.
  • Put on a Puppet Show: Dramatic play is used frequently at a Brighter Rainbow. Use puppets your kids already have or make your own using old socks. Then act out your child's favorite stories or fairy tales, or write your own fantastical tales!
  • Family Fashion Show: Trade places with someone in your family by drawing a name from a hat. Dress up in one of their outfits and show off your sartorial creations by posing for a stylish photo shoot.
  • Have an Indoor Adventure: Make an obstacle course in the house using things that are already there. Roll across the floor, then jump over a stuffed toy. Find a wooden spoon and a pot in the kitchen and clang it three times. Do five jumping jacks in the hallway, then head upstairs and hide under the bed for one minute. Make up the fun as you go along, all the while encouraging gross motor development and the ability to follow directions.
  • Count Raindrops: Lie in bed and listen as raindrops plink and plunk on the roof. Trying counting them together. Most will lose track after a few counts, but the real point is to enjoy some snuggle together!
