As Christian parents, summer is a time to help your children learn more about their faith and the world around them. In addition to Sunday church services and Bible study, there are many ways to solidify their faith during the warmest months of the year. Use these ideas to inspire your efforts so that your children start the new school year with a clearer vision of how to practice the Word of God through their actions.

4 Summer Activities That’ll Strengthen Your Child’s Faith

1. Gardening

Garden with your children to foster a love of nature as there are many passages about the natural world in the Bible. Plant flowers together and dedicate them to friends and family. Discuss the diversity of greenery and how God made not only a plethora of plants, flowers, and trees to grow together in harmony, He also made a diverse group of people to live together in one beautiful world.

2. Team Sports

churchEncourage teamwork through summer sports. Teamwork is an essential part of church activities, such as ministry services, as working together is a way to love and respect fellow humans. Summer sports, like t-ball, help children learn teamwork skills they can easily apply to church ministry work.

3. Volunteer Opportunities

Promote the Christian values by helping the less fortunate. Let your children choose what volunteer activities they want, such as working at the local animal shelter or playing games with seniors at nearby assisted living centers. This type of work also teaches children patience, humility, compassion, forgiveness, and agape, which is Christian love.

4. Camping

Camp together under the night sky while marveling at God and nature. Use the excursions to have campfire talks about God, Jesus, and anything else related to Christianity your children want to discuss. Make it clear you’re always here to answer their questions or help them find the answers on their own.
