Edwin Y. Endo, OD & Associates is dedicated to the education, treatment, and health of your eyes. An important part of having glasses is the maintenance. When your glasses are clean and well taken care of, your eyes don’t have to strain over smudges or scratches impeding on your vision.

What's the best way to keep your glasses clean and new?

For starters, you should always keep your glasses in a sturdy case when not in use. Hard cases are best as you never know when you’ll accidentally sit on your case or drop it; although you may damage the case, at least your glasses will be kept safe.

Typically, there’s room in your glasses case for a lint free cloth so you can spot-clean your glasses anytime. Never use clothes made from other fibers, because the material may not be soft enough to clean your lenses without also scratching them. Oftentimes, you can find cleaning solution in small spray bottles, so you'll always have the tools you need to get rid of pesky smudges.

Patients with glasses know lenses aren't impermeable to the elements. Rain and humidity can cause your glasses to get wet and fog up. Cooking over a stove can impair your vision with steam. Protect your eyes as much as possible from your environment and don't forget to wipe your lenses often with solution during situations when you're bound to get wet.
