Online banking makes it incredibly easy and convenient to access your finances around the clock. Yet, as with all digital services, you need to be aware of any risks to your identity and accounts. Taking a few precautionary steps can significantly reduce security risks. Keep your financial information protected by following these three simple security tips.

3 Online Banking Security Tips

1. Don't Save Your Password

Don’t be tempted to write down your banking username and password where anyone could find it. And don’t use your browser’s save-password function. Create a strong and unique password for your account and memorize it. In addition, change your password every few months.

2. Keep Your System Up-to-Date

Failing to install software updates makes your system—and your online banking information—vulnerable to hackers. To avoid this risk, check for computer and browser updates weekly and download and install upgrades immediately when they become available.

3. Log Out as Soon as You're Finished

Staying logged in to your bank account increases the chance that a hacker may steal your information. Hackers often exploit unsecured webpage connections that remain open. By logging out as soon as your online banking session is complete, your data remains private. Also, avoid accessing your banking information from any public computer.
