As an aesthetician, repeat customers can become the foundation of your business. Retention starts with keeping clients comfortable. Since waxing appointments, in particular, can cause jitters, here are some ways to keep your clients at ease and create an enjoyable experience.

3 Tips for Keeping Waxing Clients Comfortable

1. Be Welcoming

A client’s experience starts as soon as they walk in the door, so act friendly. A client will be more likely to feel calm if their aesthetician can put them at ease from the start. Ask how they’re doing and thank them for booking their appointment. Offer them a robe to put on, and ask if they’d like anything to drink. These small displays of kindness demonstrate customer service and set you apart from the competition.

If they are a new client to your business, you might consider adding an extra perk to their services. For example, you could offer a coupon for a free facial or massage following their first appointment. Giving this perk at the beginning sets a positive tone to the appointment and will make them plan on coming back.

2. Continue the Conversation

aestheticianIf a client is sitting in a silent waxing room, they may be more likely to feel nervous and tense up. You can distract them by keeping the conversation flowing. Casual chatter also allows you to get to know your client, so you can form a more personal relationship and retain their business. It’s helpful to talk them through the waxing process as well. Tell them when you apply the wax, when you’ll pull it off, and when you’ll pluck any stray hairs.

3. Leave Room for Questions

While chatting with your client and preparing waxing supplies, ask if they have any questions. They’ll appreciate the invitation to air their concerns or seek clarity. For example, clients may have questions about the type of wax you’re using, how they can care for the waxing site, and what lotions you’ll use to soothe any discomfort. Clients who feel informed about the process and after care best practices will be more likely to come back.
