For example, in South Carolina, it’s 24-hour notice with the exception of emergencies. In Connecticut, on the other hand, the law simply states “reasonable notice.” No matter the state, however, your landlord cannot come in without giving notice.

2. You’ll Never Get Your Security Deposit Back

However, receiving the deposit back is primarily related to the condition of the apartment. If there are damages, the landlord may take money out of the deposit to fix them. You can increase your chances of getting it all back by deep cleaning before you move out and having your landlord do a walk-through before you leave. 

3. Renting Is a Waste of Money

While you won’t build equity while renting as you do with a house your own, you don’t have to worry about maintenance, upkeep, and some of the utilities.
