I have broadleaf weeds out in the middle of my lawn where it gets plenty of sun. How come?

Your lawn is too wet. Reduce irrigation in the infested area and have it sprayed for weed control. In some cases lawns with low spots do not drain well causing water to collect, or you may have a layer of clay under the sod which will disable the lawn from draining properly. Also see if weeds are germinating adjacent to the downspout. Downspouts drain a high volume of water and introduce contaminants (weed seeds) to the lawn. Re-route downspouts away from the lawn.

The sides or the immediate back of my home seems to get more broadleaf weeds than other areas. How come?

Weeds will always grow in areas that are considered host areas. A host area for weeds is one that is wet and shady with thin turf. When lawns are trimmed with a string trimmer, the grass is sometimes shaved. This shaving causes systemic stress and consequently, the lawn gets thin. Together with watering and the partial shade of the day, these areas may reinfest with weeds and require more service. Reduce irrigation in the these areas and skip the trimming in order to allow the grass to recover.

I’ve done everything and I can’t get rid of these weeds! What should I do?

Regardless of your effort, some areas are not suitable for growing grass. If you conclude this to be the case, replace the sod in the affected area with landscape material such as mulch, plants, or stones.

I don’t want to do any spraying. Can I have extra services provided from GreenTec?
