When redesigning a bathroom, one of the more exciting elements is choosing your new bathroom vanity. Not only will it serve a practical purpose, but it may also be an eye-catching piece in the room and set the stage for the rest of your design. One of the points that many people deliberate over is whether to go with a single or double sink. Before making a decision, here are some of the advantages and disadvantages of each to help you choose.

Should I Install a Single or Double Vanity?

Single-Sink Vanity

A single-sink bathroom vanity is a cabinet with only one sink built into it. It can be freestanding or wall-mounted. This will take up less space in the room, or provide more counter space if the piece of furniture is still large enough to accommodate two. One sink also requires less cleaning and maintenance than two, and will be cheaper to install since it requires fewer materials and less plumbing work. If your bathroom is small, a single sink will make it appear larger by taking up a minimal amount of space.

However, if more than one person gets ready in the morning in the same bathroom, it might be tricky to work around only one sink.

Double-Sink Vanity

On the other hand, it’ll require more maintenance, take up more room, and cost more than a single installation. If only one person gets ready in the bathroom at once, you may not require two sinks.
