Like their name suggests, thermostats control the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) of your home and make sure that the temperature inside the house is comfortable for all. Though each thermostat has the same air conditioning function, different models are also created with additional features that can be used to set up temperature schedules and help you save money. To figure out which one is right for you, here are a couple descriptions from Hufford Heating and Air Conditioning, Milford, Ohio’s leader in heating and cooling services:

Basic Thermostat:

Unlike other more expensive thermostat devices, a basic model, such as the Comfort Series or the Performance Series Thermostat, simply heats and cools your living space to the temperature you want and may or may not be programmable. While not very economical in larger homes, it is perfect for those with small quarters and a tight budget.

Custom Zoning Thermostat:

Models like the Comfort Zone II are not only programmable so that you can set the inside of your home to a certain temperature, but you can also control the system so that each room is independently conditioned from the other. If you have a family who can never agree on how hot or cold the house should be, this is the model for you.

WiFi Connected Thermostat:

Along with having all the functions of the other two types of models, a Wifi thermostat such as the Infinity Series Control has a digital display screen that can program an entire week long temperature schedule and can be remotely accessed through the Internet so you can turn it on and off even when you are not home. Though pricey, it does have the widest range of features and can save you a bundle on your energy bill.
