When you decide to get a new car, you’ll need to start narrowing down what you want to find just the right model. The first decision you can make is the size you want. There are three main classifications of cars in reference to size, and understanding what each style offers will help you decide which is right for your lifestyle.

The Size Classifications for Cars

Compact/Economy

This classification is the smallest, so they’re easy to drive around and fit easily into city parking spaces. They tend to be the most fuel-efficient since they are the lightest model, so they’re perfect for those who like to take road trips or have long commutes.

carsThey can have either two or four doors, and they contain less cargo and passenger space, making them a good choice for those who aren’t carrying around a lot of belongings or people. Single people and brand-new families often love this size class. A good example of this vehicle is a Kia® Soul.

Mid-Size

A mid-size vehicle offers some more interior space than the compact classification. Like the economy class, mid-sizes usually have four-cylinder engines and can carry four or five passengers. The extra room means that passengers in a full backseat will be more comfortable and you’ll be able to fit more in the trunk. Most of these cars have four doors. Families with two kids will fit right into a car from this class, such as the Kia Optima.

Full-Size

Full-size cars are the largest classification, describing large sedans such as the Kia Cadenza. Because they weigh the most, they’ll generally not be as fuel-efficient and may be more difficult to maneuver through tight areas. They tend to be more powerful, however, with V-6 or V-8 engines, and they boast even more space. All the extra elbow room and cargo area make them more comfortable for those driving long distances in style.
