Class reunions present the perfect opportunity to get together with people you haven’t seen in years and reminisce about all the memories you share. To prepare for the big event, it’s a good idea to go over a few etiquette tips to ensure you have an enjoyable experience.

Do: 

Make an effort to talk to everyone.

Step out of your comfort zone and mingle with as many classmates as possible, especially those you weren’t close to in high school. People can change quite a bit over the years, and you may find you now have more in common with someone you didn’t hang out with back then. If you encounter someone you had problems with in school, leave the past behind and approach them with an open mind so you can focus on having a good time.

Introduce yourself to people you haven’t had contact with in years.

Not everyone can easily remember the names and faces of people they haven’t seen in years. Don’t put anyone on the spot by asking if they know who you are. Simply introduce yourself whenever approaching someone just in case they’re struggling to recognize you. This will also help you get the name of others you may have difficulty recalling. 

Don’t: 

Overindulge in alcohol. 

Even if you’re nervous, watch how much alcohol you consume. Drinking too much could lead to you saying or doing something you’ll regret later. You don’t want to be remembered for having an embarrassing moment at your class reunion, which also has the potential to end up on social media in this day and age. 

Go overboard trying to impress people.

Always be yourself, and resist the urge to compare yourself to anyone. While it’s acceptable to talk about your achievements, don’t do so in a manner that seems like bragging. Ask others plenty of questions about themselves as well to show your interest and learn about what your classmates have been up to since graduating.
