Although you can study the Lord’s teachings and practice your faith independently, belonging to a church, attending services, and participating in congregational activities can help you forge a stronger relationship with God, yourself, and your community. Here are three benefits of belonging to a fellowship.

3 Reasons to Join a Church Fellowship

1. Growth

A fellowship community can provide opportunities for growth and education. Not only will your faith leader bring up interesting and challenging topics in weekly services, but you can also participate in Bible study and discussion groups. You’ll learn from the experiences of your peers and get to hear how their life has influenced their interpretation of the text.

2. Joy & Encouragement

fellowshipJoining a church allows you to gain joy and strength from new friends with shared principles and interests. You’ll have a supportive village you can turn to when you or your family are facing adversity or celebrating a milestone. For instance, your church community may be present for momentous religious occasions, like your wedding or child’s baptism. They’ll also provide support and pray for you if your family is experiencing a difficult period.

3. Service

You’ll have the opportunity to bring joy to other lives, whether it’s through singing in a church choir or assisting fellow congregants with a food drive for those in need. Likewise, you can help other congregants when they’re facing challenges. For example, if someone in your group is sick, you and your fellow congregants might arrange a fundraising campaign to help them with hospital bills.
