Days may come when your clothing doesn’t want to cooperate with your busy schedule. You should have some fashion first-aid knowledge to tailor popped buttons, remove stains, and fix other mishaps on the go. Use the following guide of easy repairs to common problems to get back on track for the day.

How to Quickly Address Clothing Issues

1. Lost Button

If you can find the button, the best long-term solution is to sew it back on. However, if you can’t locate it, you’re in a rush, or you don’t have a needle and thread with you, a safety pin will do. Remove the garment, turn it inside out, locate the problem area, and cinch it closed with your fingers. Slide the pin through the fabric and fasten it, turning the clothing item right-side out. When you have spare time, take it to a tailor for a sturdy repair.

2. Deodorant Marks

If you find white streaks lining your garment, vigorously rub the stain. You can use a paper towel, a cloth, the interior of the clothing, or its lining. This will cancel out the color and make it more even-looking against your undershirt or blouse. If the stain is particularly prominent, use a damp cloth and a bit of vinegar. Gently rub the area with the cloth to see those pesky marks disappear.

3. Missing Earring Back

tailorIf you have a pencil, convert it to a makeshift earring back when you need to secure your jewelry. Remove the eraser by pulling it off the end or cutting it with scissors. Use your earring to poke a hole through the eraser and refasten it to your ear.

4. Pet Hair & Lint Streaks

A piece of tape will get you and your clothes ready without the hassle of picking and brushing hair and lint off by hand. With a long strip, loop the tape around your hand with the sticky side facing outward. Pat down the fabric to clear hair and lint from the area. Rotate the tape band when you start to pick up fewer clusters. Regularly change the strips to cover more area if need be.
