A tried and true American pastime, camping is an excellent activity for people of all ages. Everyone can benefit from spending a little bit of time away from the stress of home and work. For some people, cabin rentals are the best way to enjoy the great outdoors, but for others, pitching a tent is the only way to do it. If you’re wondering which is best for you, here’s what you need to know.

Cabin Rentals vs. Tents

Cabin Rentals

If you’ve never gone camping before, renting a cabin is the most comfortable way to start. Even though you’re in the woods, you get all the modern amenities, such as indoor plumbing, running water, electricity, heating, and air conditioning. Many cabin rentals even offer Wi-Fi! Thanks to these features, you can book trips that last a week or even longer. If you have a big family, these are great for ensuring everyone gets their space, since many cabins offer multiple bedrooms. However, some people view these conveniences as obstacles that interfere with truly experiencing nature.

Glamping Tents: The Best of Both Worlds

cabin-rentalsIf you want to enjoy a few modern conveniences while still being close to nature, a glamping tent is the perfect middle ground between a cabin and tent. Short for “glamorous camping,” glamping lets you live in a large tent that can house some amenities like a bed, mini refrigerator, and electric fireplace. Glamping tents are usually located near bathrooms and showers for extra convenience. If a cabin feels too luxurious, but a traditional tent won't suffice, go with a glamping tent.

Tents

Tents are wonderful for experienced campers, as well as anyone determined and enterprising enough to spend time in the wilderness. Pitching a tent gives you more freedom to explore the area. However, you’ll need to make sure your supplies are sufficient and suitable for the terrain and the weather. Bringing along family members can sometimes be difficult, especially if some people aren’t as enthusiastic about being outdoors.
