Whether it’s caused by bugs or rodents, each type of infestation requires a specific fumigation treatment and pest control solution to target the problem. Here’s more information about a few common types of infestations and how you can identify them.

Common Insect Infestations

1. Termites

Termites are attracted to homes because they like to eat the cellulose found in wood. Signs of termites include bubbling wood flooring, mud tubes around the home, and discarded wings near windows and doors. Piles of ground wood that resembles coffee grounds or sawdust may be evidence of dry wood termites. Since these insects nest in the wood, they push out extra material while they make their tunnels, resulting in piles of sand-like sawdust.

2. Bedbugs

fumigationThis pest needs blood to survive, which is why it lives in areas close to a convenient host. These insects are commonly found in box springs, headboards, and bed frames; however, they may live in car upholstery or chairs in public places, such as movie theaters. Signs that you need fumigation for these bugs include discarded exoskeletons, orange blood spots on fabrics, and swollen welts from bites. The bite will look like raised, red welts or multiple lines of bites that burn or itch.

3. Roaches

A German and American cockroach infestation is easily established when eggs are brought into the home on wood or in cardboard. Roaches are omnivorous and will eat any food source available, but they prefer sweets, starches, and animal products. Signs of a roach infestation are small, black pellet droppings and egg cases, which may be found behind furniture, in books, or other hidden locations.
