Summer break is an exciting time for kids. No more school bells and assignments due—just day after day filled with fun. Little do they know, adults are working hard behind the scenes to make sure their summer is just as productive as the school year. It’s important to plan family activities that are fun for everyone! At Pink Palace Family of Museums in Memphis, TN, there’s no shortage of ways to keep the kids entertained.

4 Family Activities for All Ages

1. The Big Screen

Going to the theater was a favorite pastime long before color TV existed. Luckily, times have changed and technology keeps propelling forward so that not only can we watch the movie we can feel like we are IN the movie. At CTI 3-D Giant Theater, you can explore China, walk with the dinosaurs, visit the moon, and more! Your family will love the immersive experience and feel like they’re right in the action with a crystal-clear picture and surround sound.

2. Historical Exhibit

Just because school is out doesn’t mean there is nothing left to learn. Seeing history up close and personal is memorable for kids, parents, grandparents, babysitters, and friends. All summer long (through October 2019), the museum is showing the Making Memphis, 200 Years of Community Exhibit. With five different focus areas—ranging from the city’s heritage to entertainment—and displays changing every month, you may have to make more than one trip!

3. Planetarium

family activitiesMany kids are fascinated by trying to identify popular constellations. If only every night were bright and starry. At a planetarium, though, every day can be a starry night! The AutoZone® Dome at the Sharpe Planetarium can take you deep into the universe in an interactive and educational experience. Who knows—you might end up sitting next to a future astronaut!

4. Wildlife Center

In the age of tablets, video games, and cell phones, it’s important to remember what a breath of fresh air feels like. At the Backyard Wildlife Center, there’s nature to explore everywhere you look. You can let your mind wander at the Lake Viewing Area or see bugs up close at the Bites, Stings, and Exotic Things exhibit.
