1. Sleeping Uncomfortably

Incorrect sleeping positions are a major contributor to neck pain. Support your spine’s natural curvature while dozing with a pillow that fills the space between your neck and the mattress. If you sleep on your side, place a second one between your knees to maintain the natural alignment of your hips and spine. 

2. Watching TV

To prevent this, the TV should be hung at the center of the wall, where it’s aligned with your eyes when you are lying down. You can also avoid issues without moving your device by sitting upright as you watch and using a pillow to support your back so you don’t slouch, which can cause back pain. 

3. Using Shoulder Bags

Carrying heavy purses puts excess weight on one side of your body, adding uneven pressure to your back and neck. Backpacks, which are designed to distribute weight evenly across the back, are preferable. If you want to continue using purses or tote bags, do so only when their weight is minimal.

4. Driving

Sitting for extended periods is an invitation for neck pain, making daily driving a major culprit. Luckily, most cars are equipped with adjustable ergonomic seats to help support the spine. Avoid slouching and keep your shoulders relaxed when driving to reduce strain on your neck. If you can’t reach the pedals when you sit with your hips placed far back on your seat, consider a lumbar cushion for added support.

5. Playing With Your Children

Using your back to lift a toddler will strain your neck as you look down. Try bending at the knees instead of your waist when you pick them up. When holding them, support them with your hip, which will also evenly distribute their weight. This will reduce the added pressure on your spine.
