The incidence of identity theft of taxpayer’s data has significantly decreased, however, the IRS is ever vigilant about minimizing risk. That’s why as of this month, they are no longer using fax to send tax transcripts and in July will stop third-party mailing of returns and transcripts.  A recent article in Accounting Today identifies the taxpayers who are affected by these changes and the other options available to them.
