Fostering a love of learning is one of the best things teachers and parents can do for children. Lucky Lane Nursery School in Creve Coeur, MO, is dedicated to cultivating kids’ curiosity and creativity while helping them learn about core subjects in preparation for kindergarten and beyond. One of the latest developments at the nursery school is the Science Enrichment Program.

What Is the New Science Enrichment Program?

This program at Lucky Lane Nursery School provides hands-on science classes for kids. Science teacher Ms. Melissa gives kids an up-close and personal experience with the natural world through fun and engaging lessons. The first session kicked off with a look at one of the most visible and essential elements in nature: soil. Children learned about what soil is and why it is important, as well as its many inhabitants, such as worms. Ms. Melissa then guided the kids in a discussion about magnets and the elements that make them stick together. In the third week, children learned about states of matter, including solids, liquids, and gases.

Why Is Science Curriculum Important?nursery school

Science is a critical part of understanding the world. By learning the basics of science at an early age, kids will gain a natural curiosity and be encouraged to delve deeper into how things work and why they are as they are.

Learning about science can also spark creativity, inspire critical thinking, and foster problem-solving skills. While the primary objective in many cases is to learn facts, it’s also about encouraging kids to ask questions and engage. Scientific experiments are based on making a hypothesis based on facts, then observing and recording results to form new, more advanced questions. Learning about the natural world as kids do in Lucky Lane Nursery School’s enrichment program encourages children to be more environmentally responsible, as well. They learn how different elements of nature, including humans, affect one another.
