Summer is finally here, and many people are planning exciting getaways with their families. Although vacationing is fun, traveling can be exhausting and overwhelming for young children. If your flight arrives before the check-in time at your hotel, there are a few ways you can keep fatigued, restless children entertained.

How to Keep Your Kids Busy Before Check-In

1. Go Swimming

hotelIf the hotel you’re staying at has a pool, ask the staff if they can hold your luggage while your family hangs out by the water. Change into your swimwear in a nearby bathroom and let your kids hop in the pool. If they’re still having fun by the time your room is ready, ask the bell desk to deliver your luggage.

2. Have a Meal

Your kids might be hungry after sitting on a plane for several hours, so stop into a restaurant in the hotel lobby or one that’s nearby for a proper meal. At the table, get your children excited about the upcoming days by discussing the different places they’ll visit during the trip. Eating at a restaurant also presents a wonderful opportunity to get your first bite of local cuisine.

3. Get Online

If your kids have tablets, laptops, or other mobile devices, connect them to the hotel’s WiFi connection. They can chat with friends back home, stream their favorite television show, or play online video games. Be sure to check that your hotel offers free wireless access before connecting; otherwise, you might be charged the daily flat rate.

If you’re planning a trip to the Aloha State, stay at The Imperial Hawai’i Resort in Honolulu. In the event you arrive before check-in, your family can swim in the rooftop pool, enjoy free wireless access, or walk to the world-famous Waikīkī Beach. Built in 1967, this hotel is within walking distance to major shopping centers, including the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center and International Market Place, allowing you to grab a few souvenirs while you await your room. View their amenities online, or call (808) 923-1827 to book your reservation.
