Until you’re packing for a move, you may not realize how many toys your children have. As such, you don’t want to wait until the last minute to get all the boxes ready for the movers. Luckily, by following a few simple tips, you can make sure that every last teddy bear and tea set makes the journey safely.

How to Pack Kids’ Toys When Moving

1. Bag Everything

You don’t want to arrive at the new house and realize that your child’s favorite Barbie® doll is missing a shoe. To prevent this, make sure to group any smaller items together in plastic bags before packing them away. This includes doll accessories, toy car parts, and smaller blocks.

2. Group Delicate Items Together

moversWhile some kids toys are designed with rough usage in mind, others are more fragile. If your child has a beloved toy that is more delicate, such as a ceramic doll or a model airplane, make sure to pack it in a separate container labeled “fragile.” You should also wrap the item in bubble wrap, so it stays protected when the movers load it into the truck.

3. Put Favorite Toys Aside

Think about the toys you see your child use the most often and ask them what their favorites are, too. Make sure to leave these items out when packing so your child still has access to them during the move. A favorite stuffed animal or doll can help ease any nerves surrounding the move, as well.
