Facing infertility can challenge even the strongest relationships. Unfortunately, the stress doesn’t stop when the in vitro fertilization process starts. If you and your partner are about to begin IVF, you may be wondering how to support your partner. After all, as hard as the situation may be on you, it’s undoubtedly harder on her, and now is the time to step up and be her rock. Here are a few tips for doing just that.

How to Support Your Partner During IVF

1. Eliminate Daily Stress

Going through in vitro fertilization can be physically and emotionally draining. You can eliminate a considerable amount of stress for your partner simply by taking over household tasks and daily chores. Rearrange your schedule to handle more of the cooking, cleaning, shopping, and other domestic duties.

2. Confide in Others

Lean on a close friend or family member, and encourage your partner to do the same. This will provide each of you with a much-needed outlet when you have to vent.

3. Provide an Escape

If you and your partner focus solely on getting pregnant, you may find it hard to enjoy yourselves until that day comes. Remember that your life isn’t on hold and you deserve to have fun now more than ever. Plan a weekend away, take her out on dates, or start up an old hobby that you enjoyed together when you were still dating.
