Your car's auto body paint does more than make it look flashy. It also provides protection from the weather and prevents your car's body from rusting. If the paint is getting old, auto painting protects the value of the car and the strength of its exterior structure. Schedule painting with your body shop if you notice any of these signs.

When to Visit Your Body Shop

1. Fading

Auto paint colors are long-lasting, but over time, UV radiation breaks down the material and causes them to fade. This process also affects the structure of the paint, weakening it; if the color has faded, you need a new coat to undo the damage.

2. Peeling

The clear coat over your car paint will sometimes crack and peel away from the body, exposing the duller paint colors underneath. This leaves the car's paint exposed, making it easier to damage and harder to restore unless fixed promptly. A skilled body shop will restore the paint and provide a high-quality clear coat to prevent his from happening again.

3. Rust

Visible rust on your car's body panels means the paint has already failed, and moisture has gotten in. You will need some restorative work to remove the rust followed by new paint to protect the area from further moisture. This helps both aesthetically and structurally so your car looks nice and operates properly without rust.

4. Large Scratches & Dents

Auto PaintingA few minor nicks won't harm your car, as there is still some thickness of paint underneath. But, if you can actually see the metal in the scratch, then the damage has gone all the way through the paint, leaving that area open to rust. The sooner this is fixed, the better. Similarly, small dents won't break through the paint layer and can sometimes even be repaired without any auto painting work. But, the larger and deeper the dent, the more likely it is to stress or crack the paint.
