If you’re planning a family reunion or weekend trip with friends, renting a charter bus for the occasion is often a wise choice. Traveling together will give everyone more time to build stronger bonds or rest and energize for the adventures ahead. To make sure the trip is a success and everyone has a good time, follow the below advice during the planning stages.

How to Plan a Charter Bus Trip for a Group

Consider the Bus Model

The length of the trip and when you plan to travel should be considered when choosing a charter bus model. If people will be sitting for long periods, for example, make sure the seats are comfortable, have armrests, and recline. The bus should also have tinted windows so people don’t have to squint from the glare while reading or chatting, as well as air conditioning to keep the cabin cool. There should also be a clean restroom on board for everyone’s convenience.

Figure Out a Budget

charter busAfter determining what type of transportation you need, research charter services to get an idea of the current rental rates. From there, you’ll be able to determine how much everyone in the group should contribute to reserve the charter bus. You can collect money from each person or set up a PayPal® or bank account for them to transfer the funds in to. Also, don’t forget to budget in a tip for the driver.

Create a Schedule

To prevent logistical nightmares, create a trip itinerary. The schedule should include each destination or attraction you plan to visit on the trip. Leave plenty of time between each activity to account for traffic delays and finding pickup and drop-off areas. Give a copy of the itinerary to the charter company. Every person in your group should also have the schedule, as it will prevent miscommunication.
