Faucet drips are annoying and can quickly lead to costly repairs. When you notice a leak, it’s critical to address it right away to save yourself money and prevent the surrounding areas from getting damaged. With the right plumbing parts and the know-how, you can easily make the repairs on your own. Here are a few steps to follow.

How to Repair a Leaky Faucet

1. Locate the Leak Source

On most faucets, there are water valves. To locate where the leak is coming from, turn off each valve independently. Once you find the problem area, turn them all off. Before you begin replacing any plumbing parts, put a stopper or cloth in the drain to avoid losing any items.

2. Remove Caps & Screws

3. Part Identification

In order to replace the faucet stem or cartridge, take a picture of the faucet and the parts. Then find out the brand’s name if possible. After, take the pieces to a plumbing parts store.
