The outside component of your air conditioning system is called a condenser.  It releases the heat removed from your home into the outside air.  To do that, its powerful fan must draw large volumes of air across the coils to cool down the refrigerant circulating within it.

Proper air flow is crucial to this “heat exchange” process.  Anything obstructing the free movement of air across the coils will REDUCE THE EFFICIENCY of your condenser, thereby causing the system to USE MORE ELECTRICITY and WASTE MONEY!

As you can see in the pictures below, this condenser was blocked in by heavy vegetation and grass clippings.  It couldn’t “breathe” properly!  After weeding and removing the embedded grass clippings from the coils, this condenser is now operating much more efficiently.

Each time you mow your lawn, ensure that the area surrounding the condenser is clear of weeds, grass clippings and other debris that will obstruct free air flow to the coils.  Your house will stay cooler and your wallet will stay fatter.  :)
