Auto window tinting helps you keep your car a comfortable temperature during summer. It also offers privacy and blocks UV rays that might damage or fade your upholstery. However, to keep your tint in top condition, you should follow some simple tips. Below are the do’s and don'ts of maintaining your tint.

Do:

Keep your windows rolled up.

For at least the first few days after tint installation, keep your windows completely rolled up. It takes about 72 hours for the adhesive to set, and if you roll the windows up and down before it dries thoroughly, you might notice peeling at the bottom or along the edges. For the best results, keep them closed for several days until the curing process has finished.

Keep the windows clean.

Don't:

Use harsh chemicals.

As mentioned above, use only a damp cloth to clean windows. Harsh chemicals such as bleach or ammonia can cause the film to deteriorate and start peeling off. If you must use a cleanser, use something mild and non-abrasive, like dish soap.

Scratch during loading.

When you load or unload materials from the car, especially hard objects like lumber or metal items, take care not to scratch the window tinting. It could leave a visible mark, allowing unobstructed light inside the vehicle. It could even make the film start to peel.
