Bounce houses are becoming more and more popular at birthday parties and other outdoor events for kids. Children love jumping around while spending time with their friends. However, without the proper precautions, kids can get injured. Here are a few tips to keep them safe.

A Guide to Bounce House Safety

1. Only Let Kids of a Similar Size Bounce Together

Small children shouldn’t be bouncing with older ones. If you let kids of different sizes bounce together, collisions and tramplings are more likely to happen. If a smaller child falls under a bigger one, they can get hurt. If you have kids of different ages at a party, designate certain times for each age group to bounce.

2. Watch Them

If you see a child break the rules, ask them to exit the house and explain what was unsafe about what they did.

3. Explain the Rules

To prevent injuries, carefully explain all the rules before you allow kids to go in the bounce house. Tell them not to jump roughly or wrestle other kids. They also shouldn’t shove others against the walls or push people out. Finally, tell them to stay away from the entrance and exit of the structure.

4. Have Kids Remove Accessories

Accessories, such as earrings, belts, necklaces, and hair barrettes can get caught on the bounce house and puncture others. Make sure they take these off before jumping. Also, have them remove any sharp objects from their pockets, as they can fall out and cause injuries.
