3 Symptoms of a Wrong Eyeglasses Prescription, Waukesha, Wisconsin

Wearing prescription glasses can give everyone perfect vision. However, over time, our eyes experience strain that can alter our needs, requiring different prescriptions. If yours is outdated, it won’t work as it should, and can even cause additional problems. Understanding some of the signs of inefficient glasses can help you know when to see an optometrist for a new one. Here are some of the red flags to look out for.

How to Tell If Your Eyewear Prescription Is Outdated

1. Vertigo

Vertigo is severe dizziness, one of the most common side effects of an eyeglass prescription that’s too strong. If you already experience vertigo, an incorrect prescription can intensify it. Other symptoms of this condition may include nausea, vomiting, and ringing in the ears. This can cause you to fall, which could result in injuries, so address your issue promptly to protect yourself.

2. Headaches

glassesIf you’ve started experiencing headaches whenever you wear your glasses, you probably have the wrong prescription. This can cause your eyes to strain to see through the lens. All that extra pressure can lead to frequent headaches, which interfere with your daily life.

3. Blurry Vision

Glasses are supposed to help you see more clearly. If your vision is blurred when you wear them, your prescription may no longer be sufficient. To check this, put your eyeglasses on and cover one of your eyes with a hand. Stare at an object in front of you with the other eye. Then, repeat this test with the other eye. If your vision is blurred in both, you likely need another prescription.
