The Edge of Malice: The Marie Grossman Story, David Miraldi’s second book, will be published later this year. Marie Grossman is a former client of Miraldi & Barrett. Over thirty years ago, Ben Barrett and David Miraldi handled her case against the owners of a Burger King restaurant after she was shot while placing an order in the restaurant’s drive-thru menu board. Her two assailants were caught and imprisoned after the attack, but because this pair had preyed on a customer at this same Burger King six weeks earlier, we filed a claim of negligent security against both the owner of the franchised restaurant and Burger King. We believed that the restaurant should have taken steps to make the restaurant safer after the first incident.

            The civil case against the restaurant is just one part of Marie’s story. The larger part of the book is her journey to find closure and healing. The book is published by Prometheus Books and should be arriving at bookstores sometime this fall.
