“An estimated 43.5 million adults in the U.S. have provided unpaid care to an adult or a child within the prior 12 months, according to the AARP Public Policy Institute, the advocacy group for Americans aged 50 years and older. And 60% of those carers are women.”

This is an astonishing statistic. Also, only 41% of americans have an estate plan in place. It is particularly important to have a plan in place before someone reaches an age of needing unpaid care. If you are a son, daughter, niece, nephew, or even just a good friend, and know someone who may be aging and/or needing assistive care, make sure you get them to sign the appropriate estate planning documents, including powers of attorney and a last will and testament. Or make sure the documents they may already have are current and usable.

Our office deals with these situations on a regular basis and can prepare the right legal documents for each individual’s need. We can schedule either an in office appointment or visit your house to meet and discuss the preparation of your estate planning documents.
