1. Control Swelling

It isn’t unusual for gums to bleed where teeth fall out, so control the bleeding by having your child swish warm water in their mouth. If the bleeding continues, place a piece of cold, wet gauze in their mouth and have them gently bite down on it. The gum shouldn’t bleed for more than an hour.

3. Offer Pain Reliever

Kid-friendly topical analgesics can provide immediate relief by numbing the gum and blocking nerve pain. Another option is oral anti-inflammatory medications, like acetaminophen and ibuprofen.
