If you’re hosting an outdoor event or project, you may need to rent portable toilets. The cost of your rental will depend on a variety of factors. To help you plan your occasion, here’s what you need to know.

A Guide to Portable Toilet Rentals

Duration & Type of Use

The cost of your rental will depend somewhat on its intended purpose. Short-term rentals for events like weddings, concerts, and festivals may have a higher hourly rate than long-term rentals for construction projects. The number of attendees will dictate how many units you’ll need. Many companies recommend renting one portable toilet per 100 people for a four-hour event. If you’ll rent it on a weekly or monthly basis for a job site, you’ll need to consider the number of shifts scheduled for the period and the number of workers per shift.

Unit Style & Specifications

Portable ToiletPortable toilets come in many styles. Basic, no-frills accommodations will be relatively inexpensive. Larger options with amenities like flush toilets and running water will be pricier. Wheelchair-accessible varieties can also affect pricing.

Inclusions & Exclusions

Service inclusions usually include delivery and pickup if within the delivery area, basic supplies, setup and removal, cleanings if rented a week or more, and accessories, such as a mounted sink. Some supplies, like soap and toilet paper, may be included. Supplemental supplies may be purchased through the portable toilet provider, or may be the responsibility of the renter. Insurance or a damage waiver may be offered to renters. This protects renters if portable toilets become damaged from natural disasters. Waivers don’t usually include protection from vandals or theft, so check with your provider.
