From careful packing to secure transport, there are numerous factors that go into a successful move. When you load up a moving truck in an orderly and logical fashion, you’ll be able to settle into your new residence much faster. Local movers suggest the following tips on how to pack your moving truck in a way that makes sense.

4 Tips for Packing Moving Trucks

1. Disassemble Furniture

Disassemble as many furniture pieces and accessories as possible to save space in your moving truck. These may include bed frames, nightstands, cribs, end tables, lamps, and bookshelves. Remove the legs from sofas and chairs, and roll up area rugs and runners.

2. Load Heavy Boxes First

3. Place Lighter Boxes On Top

Put smaller, lighter boxes on top of furniture, appliances, and large boxes. This way, if they fall, they won’t damage the items beneath them. Put fragile items into reinforced boxes with plenty of bubble wrap and newspaper to protect their contents. Load oblong or unusually shaped items last.

4. Stuff Holes With Soft Items

If there are any holes or gaps in your moving truck, stuff them with pillows, blankets, clothing, and shoe bags. Doing so will insulate your boxes and prevent them from moving during transport, which protects your belongings.
