As summer winds down, students across the country are ditching their parents, carpools and buses to drive to school on their own for the first time. While it can be a time of independence and excitement, mom and dad may be feeling fear and anxiety about this new milestone. The team of experts at Sure-Drive Driver’s Training in Northern Kentucky, are here to alleviate concerns about your teen’s driving habits by offering the following safety tips:

  • Texting while driving has become a major distraction on the road. Strongly encourage your child to avoid texting and wait until he or she arrives at school to respond to any messages.
  • Follow the posted speed limit. Sure-Drive Driver’s Training says driving too fast is among the number one causes of accidents involving teenage drivers. Most school districts have certain speed limits during school arrival and dismissal times. Remind your child that going over the limit will certainly result in a hefty fine.
  • Teen drivers should always wear their seat belts and make sure that all passengers are wearing them too.
  • Turn the music down. Very loud music can be a distraction because it can take the focus off of conditions on the road.
  • Don’t ever drink and drive. Teens should also avoid riding with someone who has consumed alcohol.

For more than 25 years, Sure-Drive Driver’s Training has provided quality instruction to teenagers getting behind the wheel. The driving instructors are trained to offer driving lessons that will ensure new drivers are equipped to abide by all road safety rules.
