Chapter 7 Bankruptcies, as a general rule, give a person a fresh economic start through a discharge of their debts.  However, certain debts are not dischargeable, including the following:

  1.  Most taxes subject to some exceptions.
  2. Debts where money is obtained by fraud.
  3. Debts not listed on the bankruptcy subject to some exceptions.
  4. Debts for fraud, larceny and embezzlement.
  5. debts for domestic support obligations, i.e., alimony, maintenance or support.
  6. Debts for intentional or malicious injury to a person.
  7. Debts for certain fines or penalties.
  8. Debts for student loans unless imposing undue hardship.
  9. Debts for personal injury cause by DUI.
  10. Debts that could have been but not listed on a previous bankruptcy where the debtor did not receive a discharge.
