Can I Drive a Scooter in the Street?

In most cases, no. Scooters are permissible on sidewalks and other pedestrian footpaths. Usage on the street is allowed if there is no sidewalk, path, or another way to reach your destination. If your route requires you to be on the street, use a flag or put reflective decals on your scooter to be more visible.

Can Someone Ride With Me on My Scooter?

Do I Need a License to Operate a Scooter?

No driver’s license or another type of operational certification is required to operate a mobility scooter. However, your doctor will need to confirm that you’re physically and mentally capable of driving a scooter before you purchase one.

Does a Scooter Use a Battery?

Yes, the vast majority of scooters are powered by a battery. The battery is rechargeable, so the unit can be easily plugged into the charger to replenish power to the unit. How often you charge the battery will depend on how frequently you use the scooter.
