5 Things to Remember for Your Wedding

We’ve all had that feeling before. You know, the one that triggers when you realized you forget something important. Unfortunately, forgetfulness is just a part of human nature, and until we start inserting memory cards into brains, you can expect this will be a recurring part of your everyday life. But when it comes to your wedding, forgetfulness can be a big problem. Your wedding is essentially your one day in the spotlight where you want everything to go according to plan. To make sure it does, remember to, well… remember these five things for your wedding day.

Hire the Right Entertainer

Playing the right music at your wedding makes it more enjoyable for everyone involved. But how do you know what music is right? A band is limited to the songs they know how to play (which might exclude some of your favorites). A DJ, on the other hand, is able to play just about anything. Simply create your own playlist, or provide your DJ with clues as to the types of songs you want to play or avoid, and they’ll take care of the rest. Talented DJs are also able to read the crowd, which is crucial for knowing when to slow things down or amp things up. By hiring someone capable of responding to the desires of you and your guests, you’re sure to be in for a good time.

Payment Details

Weddings require a lot of moving parts. From wedding planners and florists to caterers and professional entertainers, it can be tough to recall all the payment details. Fortunately, most vendors require payment upfront, but some will ask for final payments once the event is complete, allowing a chance for tips to be distributed. Make life easier by asking someone to help you keep track of the cash you’re spending leading up to and on the day of your wedding. This can be a family member, a close friend, or even a helpful banking app. This way, you’ll always have a backup when it comes to remembering who is owed what and when.

A Wedding Cake Knife

You may have remembered the wedding cake itself, but you’d be surprised how many couples forget the knife used to cut it with, and unless you’re one to go face-first into several layers of cakey goodness (hey, no one’s judging), then forgetting it is probably not a good thing. It’s possible your venue will provide a wedding cake knife when the cake itself is brought out, but it doesn’t hurt to ask ahead of time. The cake cutting ceremony is, after all, one of the most popular photos you’ll take on your wedding day.

An Abundance of Tissues

Weddings are emotional events, and they might be running high when it’s time to walk down the aisle. The last thing you want is for tears to ruin your makeup or future wedding photos. A good way to safeguard against this—and avoid the ugly box altogether—is to pack some tissues into your bouquet. This way, they’ll be out of everyone’s eyesight and easily accessible. Do you think your guests will do the same? Provide them with decorated tissue boxes and place them at the ends of aisles. Then you won’t have to worry about your guests shuffling through their purses for leftover tissues.

An Exit Plan

While you are the ‘host of honor’ at your wedding, you shouldn’t feel like you’re being held hostage. At some point in the night, you’ll want to break away and indulge in some private time with the new Mister or Missus . Make a seamless break by listing a time at which you intend to leave the reception. Better yet, have a sparkler exit ceremony so you won’t feel guilty about not saying farewell to a certain guest, while also creating a magical moment for your photographer to capture.
