If your golf game is a little slow, you may find yourself interrupted by faster groups behind you wanting to play through. The experience is better for everyone if you can pick up the pace since neither you nor they will have to stop and wait for a turn at each hole. To play faster, follow these tips.

How to Play Golf Faster

1. Take Your Shot Quickly

Your pre-shot routine may help you get in the zone, but if it's too long, it can slow down your game considerably. Try to cut down the routine to the essentials so everyone in your party can have their chance at the tee sooner.

2. Watch Where You Hit

The better you are at keeping an eye on your ball, the less you’ll have to search for it. Either you can go directly to it for your next swing or you'll be able to call the search sooner if it lands somewhere inaccessible.

3. Take the Provisional Ball

Don't be too stubborn about finding your ball. If you do lose sight of it after your initial swing or if you can't find it after a few minutes, take the provisional ball and keep playing. The longer you search, the longer your party is delayed, even if you do find the ball in the end.

Golf4. Be Ready to Move

Even when you're not at the tee, you can pick up the pace. Keep your belongings, including your clubs, organized and close by so they'll be easy to move when needed. Only stop to fill in your scorecard when you have a quiet moment and won't slow down the group.

5. Help Others

If you see someone else struggling to find a ball or having trouble keeping their belongings together, lend them a hand. The pace of your game not only relies on you but also your group as a whole.
