Spring is the perfect time of year to practice routine maintenance on your vehicle. In addition to washing your car and changing the oil, inspect and replace auto parts that were affected by the winter weather. Here are just a few critical parts to consider replacing.

Spring Auto Part Maintenance

1. Tires

If you’re currently using winter tires, now is time to replace them with all-season tires. As the weather improves, so will the road conditions; you likely won’t experience hazards like snow and ice until autumn gives way to winter again. Even if you don’t use winter tires, conduct a tread test to rule out the need for a replacement. Insert a penny head-side up into the grooves of the tread to gauge the depth; if any of Lincoln’s head shows, you need new tires.

2. Wiper Bladesauto parts

Wiper blades can suffer extensive wear and tear during the winter season, thanks to ice and snow. Rain showers and storms are common in spring, so replace wipers for maximum road visibility. Signs of worn wiper blades include torn rubber, windshield streaks, scraping, and squeaking noises.

3. Battery

Cold temperatures can quickly drain the juice from a battery nearing the end of its life span. To avoid getting stranded, replace your battery when winter ends. Signs of a dying battery include dim headlights and slow cranking sounds when starting the engine. In the meantime, carry jumper cables in your trunk.
