April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month

Spring is in the air!

Very soon we’ll be seeing those daffodils in their full bloom – signifying the onset of spring, and the warmth that accompanies it (we hope!).

This month, my theme for CAP – and beyond - is unity.  There’s the Unity Walk on April 27th in NYC (still time to join a team or donate, http://bit.ly/CAPUNITY1 .  )

There is the Punch for Parkinson’s event at the Hospital for Special Care on April 6, which strives for unity by raising funds for PWP’s that cannot afford exercise classes; there is the PD Caregiver event at the Chase Family Center in Vernon on April 23, bringing unity between caregivers and their loved ones by offering caregivers “to share their experiences and receive inspiration, guidance and validation”; there is the PRESS™ program from APDA, offered in New Haven and Vernon; and countless other events taking place not only in April but throughout the year. (Did I mention the Parkinson’s Expo and Symposium – Saturday, June 1, 2019?)

My point about unity is, while we may participate in various groups, with different names and different agendas, one thing we have in common is our desire to find a Cure.  We all aim for that common goal, and we certainly aim for our loved ones with Parkinson’s to have perseverance, to have determination, and to Believe that a cure is coming.

If we all work together, I believe our common voice can truly make a difference.  While individually some of our voices may not be that loud, with unity, our voice, as one, can be incredibly loud, and incredibly effective.  Let’s work as one voice – regardless of our group names – to find that Cure.

Warm Regards,
