If you have visited our office in the last few months for a professional dental cleaning you may have noticed some changes.  We are now equipped with HuFriedy Air Polishing systems.   This system eliminates the use for the “gritty” paste polishing at the end of your appointment.  Instead this alternative uses a air polisher with a mist sprayed at the beginning which removes all bio-film and stain leaving only calculus or tartar to be removed.  This allows for a lot less “scraping” with hand instruments during your cleaning.  This also contributes to a shorter time in the dental chair.  Here is a short video showing how the Air Polisher works. We have had very positive feedback from our patients but remember this may not be right for every patient and if you have any concerns please voice them with your hygienist during your cleaning.
