As a follow-up to his successful 2008 book The Calcium Lie, integrative medicine specialist Dr. Robert G. Thompson, MD, co-authored a second volume with journalist Kathleen Barnes entitled The Calcium Lie II: What Your Doctor Still Doesn’t Know.

Dr. Thompson’s expertise and experience as a board-certified obstetrician, gynecologist and nutrition specialist led him to write his first volume, The Calcium Lie: What Your Doctor Doesn’t Know Could Kill You, with Barnes in order to inform the public that the commonly held conception that bones are made up almost entirely of calcium is false. Rather, human bones are made up of at least a dozen minerals, all of which are required to maintain bone health throughout a person’s life. In this book, Dr. Thompson explains exactly how readers can stay healthy and even regain their health if they have developed a variety of conditions like hyperthyroidism and depression as a result of being misinformed by the calcium lie.

After The Calcium Lie was published, Dr. Thompson found that many patients were coming to him for help with nutrition, rather than just to discuss issues that would fall under the purview of an OBGYN. Dr. Thompson used his expertise to help them resolve many chronic conditions including obesity and diabetes. Five years after publishing the first book, Dr. Thompson, together with Barnes, produced The Calcium Lie II, an even more in-depth volume that explains the medical issues that can be caused by mineral imbalances and strategies that can be used to correct them.

Dr. Robert G. Thompson, MD, runs his practice out of two locations, one in Soldotna, AK, and the other in Anchorage, to better serve the needs of his patients. He provides OBGYN services as well as nutritional counseling to the men, women, and children who come to him seeking help. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Thompson, call (907) 260-6914 for both the Soldotna and Anchorage office.
